After reading the articles in social network, it seems that social network offers feature such as bookmarking, file sharing, forums, and information seaching. What other features can be provided by social network?
There are lots of other 'social' networking web 2.0 services. Sites like flickr allow you to share photos, youtube to share videos, twitter to share quick text messages, slideshare to share presentations, the list goes on. What is common to all these services is they allow everyone who visit to connect to others, to share and comment on each others work.
I believe that each social network is learning from each other's new ideas and features.
For example, Friendster has it's own blog service, but instead of having the same idea Facebook (who noticed that most 'online-freaks' would've had their own blogs somewhere and not going to build another new one just for a social network) provides a feature called "mirror-blog".
FYI, mirror-blog is a service where you can redirect/RSS the contents of your blogs from other sites (e.g. blogger) to be viewed in the Facebook column.
I find it great! But there is a limitation - if my blog template is custom-made and the XML tag for title is not identified by Facebook, then my blogs links (titles) appear as "Untitled"... "Untitled"... (sigh!)
Networking is very important to me, it is to keep abreast with all my friends on how they are doing. Sometimes when we chat we share pictures, info on where the good food are and some movie files.
